This very clever concept and design combines a standard adult toilet seat with a child-size toilet seat. This design needs no storage or unnecessary handling and is designed to be easy for children (and adults) to use. As the seats do not look obvious, they therefore appear aesthetically similar to a regular toilet seat.

How it was developed

The Rymax® Family Seat was designed by a parent toilet-training their child. The clever design evolved from the founders' experiences of toilet training their child.

After trying several types of ‘add-on inserts’ their son just could not get on with these, partly because they tended to move and slide around and he did not want to handle them nor place them onto the toilet seat.

Obviously the bigger the insert, the more space it took up and the less easy to hide or conceal in the bathroom, apart from the fact that they were not aesthetically appealing.

This led to a challenge of designing and producing something much more 'child-friendly'. After many weeks, much trial and error and countless prototypes, the blueprint for the first practical working alternative was made, which was immediately put to the test. It passed with flying colours as their son found it easy to use and his Mother loved the fact that it negated having to handle an insert and the worry of storage. From here, it developed into a more appealing model, which family and friends all commented 'such a great idea, so simple and easy to use and why had no one thought of it before'.

This made Rymax® realise that they had conceived something unique and very special. It also became obviously apparent that as an adult you can readily buy an adult toilet seat in almost any style, colour or material to suit any environment, this cannot be said for a child seat, that is until now, as there has not been a specific toilet seat for children with the same principles. The Rymax® Family Seat had been created out of necessity, a purpose made ‘Child seat’ as an addition, and in conjunction to, a regular adult toilet seat that looks aesthetically similar to a standard toilet seat and of course a seat just like the one Mummy and Daddy use.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
The Rymax® Family Seat is designed for toddlers as well as adults and eliminates the need for inserts etc, however, we advise parents / carers to supervise the child at all times whilst they are using the toilet. The parent / carer should (until they consider otherwise) operate the child seat for the child (unlock & lower, lift up & lock). When the child is competent with the child seat, the catch can be left in the "open" position thus allowing the child to lift and lower the lid and seat themselves.

The Rymax® Family Seat is fitted with a "rotating catch". At the time of packaging it is in a locked position. This is located on the underside of the lid & Child seat at the front (this may be tight at first), after several turns the catch will turn more freely.
